KATHARINA BERGFELD

Katharina Bergfeld has over fifteen years’ experience in the film industry, including more than eleven years as a producer. Her work encompasses feature-length documentaries and, since 2023, fictional projects as well.

The films she has produced have been screened at leading international festivals, including Cannes, the Berlinale, San Sebastián and Hot Docs, and have won numerous awards in Europe, Latin America, Asia and North America. In 2026, she won the German Film Award in the ‘Best Children’s Film’ category for CIRCUSBOY.

Katharina studied Audiovisual Media Studies at the Film University Babelsberg and is an alumna of Eurodoc, AV Women Leadership and the EAVE Producers Workshop 2025. She is a lecturer at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy and the Film University Babelsberg, and is regularly invited as a mentor, moderator, speaker at European film festivals, panels and programs.

She is a member of the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy. She lives with her family in Berlin.

Katharina’s credits as a producer include over a dozen documentary and fiction films for cinema and television, which have been screened at numerous international festivals and won awards. Her most recent works include:

UN POETA (2025, directed by Simon Mesa Soto, Ma.ja.de., Cannes Un Certain Regard) Winner of the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize, CoPro Award at Filmfest München, Toronto, San Sebastián, etc. Colombian entry for the Oscars, nominations: Goya, Platino, Independent Spirit Award. Between 2018 and 2020, Katharina produced a series of internationally acclaimed cinema documentaries with Flare Film, including WALCHENSEE FOREVER (2020, directed by Janna Ji Wonders, winner Berlinale Perspektive, winner Bavarian Film Award, German Camera Award for ‘Best Editing’, Golden Alexander Thessaloniki). GLITTER & DUST (2020, directed by Anna Koch & Julia Lemke, premiered at the Max Ophüls Film Festival, Zlín ECFA Award, nominations German Documentary Film Music Award, VFF Documentary Film Production Award, shortlisted for the German Film Award “Best Children’s Film”). and others.

JUAN SARMIENTO G.

Juan Sarmiento G. is an award-winning director of photography and experienced producer.

Co-founder of the Colombian production company OCÚLTIMO with Simón Mesa Soto, producers of AMPARO and A POET. 

As DoP he is known for THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB (2025 by Kaouther ben Hania, Venice Grand Jury Prize winner, OSCAR, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee), UN POETA (2025 by Simon Mesa Soto, Cannes UCR Jury Prize Winner, SPIRIT and GOYA Award nominee) and ISLANDS (2025 by Jan-Ole Gerster, Berlinale), starring Sam Riley and Stacy Martin. Notable titles also include Cannes premieres MARINER OF THE MOUNTAINS by Karim Ainouz, AMPARO and LEIDI by Simon Mesa Soto. Frequent collaborations with Mesa Soto, Kaouther Ben Hania, Karim Aïnouz, Ann Oren and Daniel Espinosa.

Winner of the Sven Nyqvist Cinematography Award for MADAME LUNA, the Colombian Film Academy Award for AMPARO and the German Cinematography Award for VALLEY OF SOULS, among others.

He's constantly looking for new challenges and discoveries. He excels in collaborations with strong creative and productive passion, willingness to experiment and utmost attention to narrative and character detail. 

Member of The Academy's (AMPAS) cinematographers branch as well as an active member of the Colombian and the German societies of cinematographers. Based in Berlin.
